Granite from China

Granite (lot. Granum – grain) is a magmic rock, which belongs to the group of intrusic rocks.

• Structure – crystal (granular), formed during a slow solidifying of magma in the closed environment at a great depth under high temperature and high pressure. Depending on the size of crystallized minerals‘ grain the structure can be hard-grained (more than 5 mm), middle-grained (1-5 mm) and fine-grained (up to 1 mm);
• Texture – solid (monolitic, uniform), when light and dark minerals are located desultory in the rock body;
• Composition – orthoclase, microcline, plagioclases, silica, micas, hornblende;
• Solidity – from 5,5 to 7 according the scale of Mosso (diamond is of 10);
• Density – from 2,5 to 3,1 g/cm3  (most usual 2,7 g/cm3) ;
• Usage – construction material for finish;
• Colour – more than 100 sorts.
